Giving you more space to live

Dercon News

Danielle and Tony came to Dercon construction with the vision of adding a two level addition onto their home. This extra space was needed to add living area in order for Danielle’s parents to move in. Danielle and Tony wanted the addition to extend the rear of their home approximately 25 feet in order to create a new great room upstairs. In addition to the added space upstairs, a full basement addition was also incorporated. These areas and their additional square footage would ensure comfortable and adequate space for the homes new members. Dercon was also tasked with remodeling the existing kitchen, and the parent’s bedroom which were both attached to the new main level addition.

Danielle and Tony’s home was built in the early 1900’s and they wanted the addition to be built and finished in such a way that it looked like it was there from the beginning. Examples of this included an orange peel finish on the sheetrock blended to match the existing wall finish, splicing the old wood floor seamlessly with new oak to extend from the old construction to the new, and trim carpentry practices and finishes that are rarely used today. The kitchen displays some great antiqued ceiling tiles, as well as custom built antiqued enamel cabinets,  and a farmhouse  sink. It was finished nicely  with antique light fixtures provided by Danielle. All of these factors lead to a beautiful new kitchen, designed to add modern functionality that blended seamlessly with the architecture of the existing home.

This project was a very fun and successful one for both the homeowners and Dercon. We worked very closely with the homeowners to achieve their vision and goals. They are now in the process of moving Danielle’s parents into their new space. They have also chosen to hire Dercon to convert their existing attic space from a cold storage space, into a fully functioning living area.
